Smoky brown roaches adults look uniformly brown. However, babies Smoky brown roaches are born white after hatching, and then turn black before becoming brown with a white segment at their midsection. As they age, their pattern becomes less common. Though Smoky Brown roach adults grow large, nymphs (as in the baby roach pictures above) can be as small as a single millimeter in length.

Australian baby cockroaches are similar to American baby roaches but have yellow spots and mottled skin.

Like the American baby cockroaches, the Australian baby is reddish to brown in color and wingsless until they mature. The pattern of the Australian babyroach is distinctively yellow, and it differs from the American babyroach. Australian cockroach nymphs can be as small as 1/8 inch in length.
