How To See If Your Hotel Has Been Reported For Bedbugs

Since the beginning of the decade bedbugs are a big problem for all hotel levels. These tiny, brown bugs get their name from their habit of feeding on humans while they sleep in their beds, causing welts or even rashes on the skin of their victims. They are quick and can hitchhike easily so they could end up in your clothing and bags, making it easy to bring them along on your travels and to your home.

Obviously, some hotels manage to keep their bedbug problem quiet. Other hotels with famous brand names make national news.

There are many ways to check whether there has been any bed bug reports at your hotel. You might also like: The

Caveat

Of course, one has to take every bedbug report with a grain of salt. Not saying some people are lying but some are lying. People may make a complaint about a hotel's bedbug infestation as a form of revenge or a sick joke. There are two possible explanations for the "I woke up with an itchy rash". One is whether they had been bitten by spiders, and one is whether bedbugs caused them. The other is whether someone ate something allergic.

Also, it is a good idea to look through all three references as part of your research. Someone may not post something on The Bedbug Registry or Bedbug Reports because they never heard of them, but it could be on Trip. Advisor. Advisor.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I was delighted to discover some amazing-looking apartments on the East Village and Lower East Side. I then googled their addresses, and discovered that they were in the Bedbug Registry. Although it is possible for bedbugs to be found in places not listed, they can still be present. I would avoid moving into any place on the registry that has been there recently. There was one instance where this problem recurred year after year. Ew.

How consumers can trust the "Bed Bug Registry"

Whether you are a concerned traveler, a hotel owner, or a property manager, certainly you are aware of the growing bed bug epidemic. A 2011 study found that 1 in 5 Americans had experienced a bedbug infestation at home. There is a good chance that these numbers have increased over time. Yet as our previous blog stated, this epidemic does NOT rest firmly on the shoulders of the lodging industry. Hotels did not invent bed bugs. Bed bugs are in hotels because guests bring them in, plain and simple. To help stop this outbreak, the hospitality industry as well as guests must take full responsibility.

There are many sites that allow guests to report bed bug infestations in motels and hotels, especially for travelers. These are some of the most well-known sites:

Although these "bed bug registers" seem to be a good way to prevent bed bugs from your travels, they can also make it difficult for travelers. After careful consideration, though, it is possible to completely avoid hotel bedbug registries.

1. You can submit reports on bedbug events at hotels, motels and condos.

This platform is extremely user-friendly. A majority of sites let you enter the hotel name, zip code, and even a simple town name in order to receive a report. These reports will appear directly on your site. This may seem like a great way to inform the concerned traveler, until you realize that… 2. Websites don't verify validity of users' reports and can not ensure their accuracy. Each site clearly explains that.

The information you see (reports) on these sites is not accurate. Websites don't verify for accuracy. It is difficult to decide whether you trust or deny the information. You could have a variety of reasons to complain about a hotel or make a negative review. Paula Bolyard from PJ MEDIA reported that Maciej, a writer/programmer, runs the Bed Bug Registry. His goal was to not start a dialogue, to not try and help the industry, or to even help travelers. He wanted to take vengeance. Period. The whole world is blind if one eye fails to see the other.

The results for Orlando, FL showed 44 hotels. After looking at the customer feedback, I realized that many of them had been anonymous.

A customer reported that:

"I woke up around 5 in the morning to find a tiny bug crawling towards my son." It was amazing that bed bugs could be so easy to spot. My vision is not good enough to see these little pests at night.

The website also has this information:

"One or more reports on this page has been disputed. Please remember this site does not check the veracity of any bedbug reports." After reading several more reports, I start to wonder if anybody will go anywhere with so many gruesome reports of bed bugs. A second question is whether anonymous reports don't constitute a kind of bed bug witch hunting.
