The Advantages of Choosing a Plant-Based Insecticide Spray
It’s important to choose an indoor insecticide spray that works well for your family. Check out a few reasons why plant-based insecticide sprays are a great option.
You can get rid of pests fast by using the best combination essential oils.
Residual Repellent: Once the spray is completed, essential oils vapors from plants will form a protective barrier which helps keep pests at bay.
Family-Friendly: Plant-based insecticide sprays are potent to bugs. However, they have a much lower toxicity for humans and pets. When used as directed, they are a more family-friendly solution.
Environmentally friendly: These sprays do not leave behind any harmful residues, and they won’t remain in the environment. Sprays are therefore safe to use both inside and outside.
Plant-based Insecticide Sprays are Better for Beneficial Insects While insects are killed on contact, bugs not sprayed directly will only be repelled.

Rutgers Study Shows Best Home Treatments For Bed Bugs
(Last Updated on: February 7, 2015). Bed bug spraying is the most efficient way to use even top-of-the line insecticides. You cannot substitute an integrated pest control program for insecticides.
Bed bugs are best treated by an experienced professional. It’s important to remember that bed bugs can be treated by an expert. That can prevent you from much heartache and even sleepless nights. Now, I will address anyone who needs to combat bed bugs, regardless of their cause.
There are options for those who don’t want professional assistance. Take a look at my guide on DIY bedbug control. Although this strategy is non-chemical in nature, it will still be effective for eliminating bed bugs.
Narinderpal and other Rutgers University researchers have identified two products with low levels of toxicity that can be used to control bed bugs as well as their eggs. EcoRaider ™, and Bed Bug Patrol ™, are both essential oil-based insecticides that can be purchased over-the counter or via the Internet. The effectiveness of both these insecticides was the highest among 11 other plant oil or detergent-based products tested. Two trials showed that these products had a greater than 90% success rate in controlling bedbugs by directly spraying them on their victims. After 10 days, EcoRaider(tm), caused 100% mortality in both trials. Bed Bug Patrol(tm), which caused 91% to 92 percent mortality over 10 days in 2 trials, was the cause. Although the essential oil products worked slower than the professional insecticide Temprid(r), SC, after 10 days they still provided comparable control.
It is the egg stage that bed bugs are most difficult to get rid of. EcoRaiderTM caused the highest mortality rate (86%) in spray-on tests. Other products and professional standards provided less than 17% of control.
Ideally with an insecticide you want a product that will not only kill on direct contact, but one that will leave a residue that continues to kill insects, and not repel them, after it dries. Singh and coworkers tested two of the top oil-based insecticides against professional products, Temprid (r. SC) and Demand(r. CS). Bugs were confined on one-day old residues on cotton fabric for five minutes and then put in a clean dish and watched for mortality. After ten days, 93% of bugs exposed to EcoRaider(tm) and Bed Bug Patrol(tm) residues died. This feat was even more impressive when the residues were still only one days old. This was even more impressive, as these products performed at the same level as Temprid SC after just one day. The professional products performed significantly better when the bed bug was given the option to rest on either treated or untreated surfaces. If given the option, bed bugs may choose to avoid surfaces that are oil-based.
Don’t believe you can solve bedbug problems at home if you read this. Researchers stress that spraying was done in ideal conditions. The chances are that the results from field treatments, which will be difficult because bed bugs live in crevices in furniture and bedding, won’t be as impressive. Professional products such as Temprid(r), SC, and other are intended to keep the bugs away for at least one day following spraying. Our plant-based residues in this test were not aged more than one day, and given the volatility of plant oils I would not expect them to last very long.
