Choose an appropriate snap trap. There are two types of traps: one for rats and one for mice. Read the directions carefully before setting the trap.

You should not choose PB for your trap because of the strong desire rodents feel for it.

Sticky baits have the best chance of catching mice because they can’t run from them. They have to stay and nibble, increasing the chances of catching them.
It’s affordable, easily accessible, and simple to apply.
Mixing PB and poison is easy. You should avoid mixing PB with poison.
Fruit Jam
The same reason fruit jam attracts mice is the same as peanut butter or hazelnut spread: they are sweet and sticky. Make sure you only place enough jam at the trap’s end to make the mouse set the device off.

General Mouse Trapping Tips
For effective mouse trapping, it is important to have the trap placed correctly.
You should inspect first for signs of activity. Place traps in areas of high activity. Mouse activity is most common in places such as walls, behind appliances, darkened corners, and behind other objects. Although it can provide extensive coverage, the traps will not reach all mice. Placing traps where mice nest or run is a good idea. You can increase the chance that mice will pass through the traps by placing them along runways or pathways. Mouse traps should be placed at an angle to the wall with their trigger ends touching the wall. Place them parallel to the wall. You should place the triggers so that they can intercept any mice from the opposite direction.
Make sure you use enough traps. A common mistake when setting up mice traps is using too many traps. Six traps is not excessive, even for one or two mice. Placing mice traps should be placed at a distance of between 2-10 feet and 10 feet. Two traps should be placed behind the stove and one behind the fridge. There can also be two traps underneath the sink. Most commonly, mice are captured the very first night. You may require two to three dozen traps for a store room or restaurant.
You can use 2 mouse traps (Snap Traps and Glue Traps) placed together in areas with high levels of mice activity. Two snap- or glue mousetraps should be used, leaving about 1 inch between each other. This would catch mice that try to jump over the traps, a particularly common occurrence.
You should aggressively trap mice when you trap them. More mice are caught the first night, than the following nights. To take advantage of this timing, make sure you have plenty of traps.
Small amounts (pea size), of baits or lures are needed. Offering a mouse high protein lures, such as peanut butter, is a smart idea. It is important to consider what food the mouse is used to and how many other options are available. Besides peanut butter, fried bacon, salami, oatmeal, and chocolate are usually favored by mice. Multiple baits can be placed in multiple traps, which would give you a wider selection of food options. A good strategy would be to offer food lures that are not available in the area. In a flourmill for instance, you could offer meat as an incentive.

You can use dental floss to secure solid baits such as nuts or meats. For models that have expanded triggers, such as Victor 325, place the bait in the slot. This will stop the mice from taking the bait and improve the catch rate. Use a range of lure baits such as oatmeal, peanut butter and bacon to attract mice.
For allergy-sensitive people, Pro Pest lures/Provoke lures do not contain peanuts. A snap trap like the Victor 325, with its extended trigger, may not require any lures. You can place the trigger close to the wall where rodents are likely to step on.

Multi-mouse Trapping Tips and Strategies
These traps can be placed parallel to or perpendicularly to walls. For the low-profile type, it is best to place the entry point perpendicular to the wall.
If there’s a lot of mouse activity, or if you have a possibility for mouse entry (exterior doors) then place the traps. Be aware of wall spaces that border the outside with trash bins and other debris. Also place these traps on the exterior near all entrances, with the goal of catching mice before they enter the building.
To prevent any damage to the inside of the premises, the traps need to be placed every 20-40 feet.
Multiple mice traps are not necessary to be baited. But, peanut butter or vanilla extract can increase the lure’s attractiveness.
Using glue boards inside the low profile multiple mice traps will make inspection easier and the extra time needed to deal with live mice.
Although dead mice won’t prevent others from getting in, it is important to inspect and clean out traps so that they don’t become infected. Spray nonstick food repellent at the base of your trap to stop dead mice getting stuck.

We like the clear plastic ones as they are affordable and simple to monitor.
