Customers who have received the wrong item from Amazon in an order they placed can contact Amazon and request a refund or replacement. Amazon has two ways for customers to reach out to Amazon regarding any issues they may have with their orders, including if the item they ordered was incorrect or an unordered package.
The first method is to call Amazon customer service using their 1-800 number and report the incorrect package, which is preferred if customers have received a package despite not ordering anything.

A second option to return the item you received is to submit a request for a reimbursement or replacement on Amazon.com. This request must be completed by the customers:
Log into Amazon to view your Orders. Click on an order to locate it and choose “Return or replacement items”. This option is located at the top of your screen. Click on the “Reason to replace” drop-down menu and choose “wrong Item was shipped.” Then, print the return label that has been provided. Prepare the defective item for shipping.
Online forms are the easiest and most efficient way to report a misplaced package. However, it will require that customers return the item they have received.
However, when going through a customer service agent, Amazon will generally recommend that the customer keep the wrong item as a gift for the inconvenience.
Therefore, if customers do wish to keep the item they received, it’s recommended that they ask a live customer service agent for assistance so that they can both receive their correct order and keep the wrong item.
Can I Keep the Wrong Item Delivered by Amazon?
FTC (Federal Trade Commission), Amazon can send customers items they don’t want. Amazon will often ask customers to return items they receive via its online portal.
Therefore, being able to keep the wrong item will depend on the channel customers go through to request their correct package. Customers who use an online form may have to return their wrong product.
If customers contact a live agent for customer service, they are more likely to insist on keeping the item because of the inconvenience.
Amazon will offer a return or exchange for the incorrect item.
Amazon will either send the replacement or refund to customers who reported an incorrect order.
After approval of your request, you will be notified by Amazon within 3 to 5 days. Amazon will provide a tracking number that will allow customers to send a replacement.
