Is Aldi Coming To New Mexico Or Albuquerque?
Do you want to learn more about the topic Aldi coming to New Mexico or Albuquerque?
Aldi, a well-known grocery retailer founded in 1946 is known for selling groceries at very affordable prices.
Currently, Aldi has no intention of opening stores in New Mexico or its largest city Albuquerque. Aldi recently revealed their plans for 2022. Aldi intends to grow its business and expand its name in the world of grocery retailers by opening 150 more grocery stores as well as a distribution center covering 546,000 square feet. This will allow Aldi to support 100 additional stores throughout Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi.
Aldi also announced that it would be hiring 300 associates in stores and 200 warehouse workers, which will allow the company to achieve a milestone. Aldi’s discounts on grocery items gradually draw people to the company. The company is also known for their business strategy which puts a tough challenge to the likes of Kroger and Walmart. Their services are unique and different than other grocery retailers. They are familiar with their customers, which makes them more comfortable.
What Potential Locations Are There For Aldi In New Mexico Or Albuquerque?
There are plenty of locations Aldi could set up shop in New Mexico and Albuquerque, should they finally turn their sights toward The Land of Enchantment.
For starters, Albuquerque is the most populous city in the state, with a little over half a million residents in the city limits and nearly one million in the metropolitan area.
There are quite a few neighborhoods in the city which look conducive to an Aldi store, such as Quigley Park, Nob Hill, and Loma Del Rey.
Outside of Albuquerque, there is also the state capital, Santa Fe.
Santa Fe is the fourth largest city in New Mexico, with a population of about 85,000, but it also sees tons of tourist activity for its many historical sites.
Why Doesn’T Aldi Plan To Come To New Mexico Or Albuquerque?
Aldi US had announced plans in 2017 to eventually have 2,500 locations.
They earmarked $5 billion dollars for the expansion and for store renovations in areas like the American northeast.
Meanwhile, those brand-new store openings have been focused on Gulf Coast states like Louisiana and Florida.
The company has also set its eyes on Alabama, where they began construction on a new distribution warehouse in Loxley.
Although the Gulf Coast has been the main focus, Californians have also seen more new stores open.
Aldi clearly is being strategic in how and where they plan their route through the U.S.
It’s hard to imagine that their goal isn’t to be operating in all 50 states, but it appears that they are going about this in a way that meets their objectives, if not the desires of shoppers.
With stores in states on either side of them (Arizona and Texas), I have to think that New Mexico, while it didn’t make the shortlist this time, will have stores in the not-too-distant future.

Aldi keeps their prices low by using these strategies
Small workforce: By employing a small workforce Aldi Keeps the labor cost low which helps them in lowering the price of the products.
Do not use brand names. Aldi sells 90% of its products privately labeled. By avoiding brand names they are able to skip dealing with another company, and can offer lower prices.
Limited items and small stores: Aldi doesn’t have national brands so they have fewer warehouses as well as have less to display in the stores. This directly means having smaller stores, smaller rent prices.
