The employees still called the police and demanded the shoplifter to pay an additional fine in excess of $1,000.

In this instance, the person had dementia but did not plan to pay for his purchases.

However, it’s worth mentioning that many Hobby Lobby locations place a high priority on preventing stealing.

Is Hobby Lobby’S Loss Prevention Program Effective?

We’re unable to give a definitive response to this question because Hobby Lobby appears to conduct loss prevention in a variety of ways throughout its shop locations.

You may face charges for a variety of crimes, depending on your history and the amount of property you allegedly stole. Each crime has its own punishment:

  • Shoplifting of less than $50 in goods or services is classified as a Class C Misdemeanor. The maximum penalty for this crime is $500.

  • Third degree felony – For shoplifting/stealing $20,000 to $100,000 worth of property or services; the penalties are a minimum of two years and a maximum of 10 years’ incarceration and a maximum fine of $10,000
  • Second degree felony – For shoplifting/stealing $100,000 to $200,000 worth of property or services; the penalties are a minimum of two years and a maximum of 20 years’ incarceration and a maximum fine of $10,000
  • First degree felony – For shoplifting/stealing $200,000 worth of property or services; the penalties are a minimum of five years and a maximum of 99 years’ incarceration and a maximum fine of $10,000
