Bedbugs: Natural Remedies To Get Rid Of Them

Since the start of the school year in September, all over France, bed bugs have reappeared. If you are facing this invasion, here are some natural remedies to clear your home.

The bedbug is an insect measuring 4 to 8 mm, brown or brown in color. Very small, this parasite is nonetheless extremely resistant: it can go weeks without feeding. The bed bug feeds almost exclusively on human blood and therefore likes to be nearby: bed, box spring , carpet, sofa are its favorite places. How do you know if you are infested? If you wake up in the morning with bites on your body, similar to those of the mosquito and this causes severe itching, if you spot black spots on your sheets or streaks of blood, there is a strong risk that your home be invaded by bed bugs. We must then act quickly! Here are some natural tips to eradicate these little beasts.

Tea Tree Essential Oil

Tea tree essential oil is a natural insecticide and an excellent pest control, as bed bugs hate its smell. Thus, their proliferation will be undermined. You can spray the essential oil on your bed or diffuse it around your bedroom. Another solution: make your natural insecticide by mixing 50 ml of water with 2 teaspoons of tea tree oil in a spray bottle.

Clove essential oil effectively eradicates parasites, including bedbugs. Its use is identical to that of Tea Tree.

Lavender Essential Oil

This essential oil is a great alternative to fight against bedbugs. It can also be used by pregnant women. To use it, mix 50 ml of water with a dozen drops of lavender essential oil , then spray.

Diatomaceous Earth

Composed of microscopic algae , diatomaceous earth is a natural insecticide very effective against bedbugs, thanks to the presence of silica. Spread a thin layer of this powder on the floor around your bed and against the baseboards of the walls. Bed bugs will disappear in about ten days.

Clean Up

A bedbug invasion does not mean a lack of hygiene. However, doing a big cleaning can get rid of it. To do this, vacuum the room , not neglecting any nooks or crannies . Also vacuum the mattress and the box spring. To optimize your cleaning, pour two to three drops of clove essential oil into the vacuum bag. Before throwing the bag in the trash, protect it with a plastic bag. Wash all your bed linen at 90 ° C. If your sheets cannot stand this temperature, place them in the freezer for three days. Finally, you can steam clean your room and your bedding: bedbugs cannot withstand such high temperatures. In addition, the steam can reach corners that are sometimes more difficult to access.
