Arson Arrest; A Woman Claims That Fires Were Set Up To Kill Snakes
March 30, 2021 GMT LEESVILLE, La. (AP). A Louisiana woman who was accused of starting fires said that she and her boyfriend wanted to rid Louisiana of snakes. This is according to the Department of Agriculture and Forestry.
Robert Lee Ramirez (34), of Leesville faces two counts for arson. He was released on Tuesday by Veronica Mosgrove, a department spokesperson.
Laura Ashley Lee (also of Leesville) was arrested on March 18 for one count arson. She was later released on $3500 bond.
Mosgrove admitted that the couple are boyfriend-girlfriend in an email Monday.
The statement states that Ramirez started multiple fires on the roadway and in the woods belonging to others.
Leesville’s two number listed for Laura A. Lee are not in use. Mosgrove said she doesn’t know whether Lee has an attorney who could speak for her.
