How Does An Air Fryer Work?
This innovative device uses very little oil in the cooking process. If you’re making home-cooked fries for example, then you can use only a tablespoon of oil to coat the potatoes and fry them in the oven.
Once you coat your food in a thin layer of oil and add them to the device, the air fryer circulates hot air to cook and crisp your food to perfection.
Most air fryers use a powerful fan to help distribute the hot air, which moves around the food evenly for uniform cooking. Some machines use a built-in paddle to move the food around the container, while some have rotisserie attachments to turn meat for even cooking.
What We Love
The Kalorik air fryer oven is a jack-of-all-trades, offering a battery of attachments and functions that do everything from convection baking to rotisserie cooking. It could replace an oven for most people. We stopped considering this device an oven and instead viewed it as a countertop stove with air fryer capabilities.
It looks the part, too. This appliance is made with stainless steel and French doors. It can be placed on your counter and admired by gadget lovers. And, with the exception of the very loud timer (a great feature if you’re on the other side of the house or have other background noise going on), the Kalorik oven is exceptionally quiet. In our test kitchen, which has a moderate level of ambient noise, we had to put our ears right next to the appliance to hear any sound at all.
Opening the doors of the Kalorik oven during cooking doesn’t affect time or temperature settings you’ve already programmed into the appliance, so you can check on your food whenever you want without having to fuss with settings.
According to the user manual, preheating your appliance is recommended. We found that this is unnecessary for most cooking methods. We tested the Kalorik oven without preheating and had great success with cooking chicken, vegetables, and French fries. For baking and broiling meats or chops, we recommend heating the oven.
Whole chicken
We cooked one whole chicken (3.56 pounds) for this experiment.
Method: We used a rotisserie to cook the chicken for 40 minutes at 425. After 40 minutes the chicken wasn’t quite done, but was cooking a little unevenly, so we stopped the rotisserie and just cooked it on air fry mode for 10 minutes more to finish the cooking process.
The Kalorik’s Rotisserie feature is difficult to use. It also takes some effort and it can be hard for the weight of the meat evenly spread on the spit. What this means is that the imbalance causes the rotisserie to struggle to pull the heavier side up, and then once the heavy side reaches the top, it drops quickly. This results in uneven cooking. The weight imbalance is likely also hard on the rotisserie mechanism, but only time will tell how much wear and tear it can take.
The chicken came out perfectly cooked, and the browning was beautiful. However, it led us to question the use of the Kalorik oven for roasting chicken. We could have easily used the air fryer or oven setting, and achieved comparable results. We recommend the Kalorik oven to roast chicken, but you can also use the rotisserie.
The Trick
It’s a simple trick. Hot air circulates the food, driven by a fan or motor, and an occasional shake of the pan results in evenly cooked food that retains its flavor and texture.
The food can be fried without having to use oil spray or a thin coating.
Most types of meat benefit from even cooking, and an air fryer achieves quick results. You can seal all the valuable juices in your meat with intense heat by forming a crispy coating.

Health Benefits
A Kalorik Air Fryer may help you to be healthier because it uses up to 80 percent less oil while cooking.
Oil from a spray is less fat-soluble than oil. Whole fried foods may not be considered healthy. An air fryer dramatically reduces the amount of oil and fat you consume.
The Kalorik Air Fryer may be able to help you live a healthier lifestyle. Less fat and oil mean less clogging of your arteries and heart without sacrificing flavor. You may find that your waistline reduces as a result of switching to an air fryer.

Cookies
Premade ginger molasses cookie batter was used. We portioned the dough into 1-tablespoon-sized balls. Each batch made four cookies.
Method: We set the timer to 12 minutes and used the bake function (355).
Results: The Kalorik oven transitions seamlessly from air fryer to convection oven, so the cookies came out perfectly shaped and golden brown.
Not Just For Fries
Fresh fries remain a favorite in my household. However, while my air fryer makes fries a relatively healthy option, you’re not limited to cooking potatoes in your air fryer.
Fish, meatballs, and even casseroles and curries benefit from using an air fryer. It depends on the model you own when you try out different recipes, but coated chicken wings and spicy meatballs often inhabit my machine and taste incredible.
